Layer Management Software

Layer Management Software: Lay Rate Curves, Egg Quality and Grader Data — In One System

Lay rate deviations don't fix themselves. Livestocker visualizes your production curve against standard, auto-imports SIME-TEK grader data and calculates egg cost per unit — so you spend less time assembling data and more time acting on it.

What layer producers tell us before switching to Livestocker

Four recurring problems from layer operations — from 50,000-bird cage houses to free-range multi-flock producers.

The production curve isn't visible until it's too late

By the time a downward trend shows up in a monthly report, the flock has been underperforming for three weeks. A visual lay rate curve — compared against the breed standard and the previous flock — lets you see deviations on the day they start.

Grader data has to be re-typed manually

The SIME-TEK grader prints a report. Someone re-types the size category totals into a spreadsheet. Errors are introduced, time is wasted, and the data arrives late. There is no reason to re-type data the machine has already produced in structured form.

Cost per egg is never calculated

Feed, medication, labour and housing costs are tracked somewhere — but they are never divided by eggs produced to give a per-unit cost. Without that number, it's impossible to know whether the operation is profitable at any given sales price.

Sales tracking and production tracking are separate

Production data lives in one file. Customer invoices live in another. Nobody can easily see which customers are taking which grades, what revenue each customer generates per period, or how production allocation maps against sales commitments.

What Layer Management Software does in Livestocker

Production, quality and commercial data in one system — so the full picture of your layer operation is always current and always connected.

Feature What it means
Lay Rate Curve Daily egg production is plotted as a live lay rate percentage and compared against the breed standard curve and your farm's historical best. Deviations are visible on the day they occur — not in a monthly summary.
Egg Weight Index Average egg weight by flock and by age week is tracked automatically, giving you the egg mass per hen per day figure that determines your grading yield and category distribution.
SIME-TEK Grader Auto-Import Grading session data is imported directly from your SIME-TEK machine — no re-typing. Size category totals, cracked egg counts and second-quality figures are all brought into the system automatically at the end of each grading run.
Egg Cost Calculation Total flock costs — feed, medication, day-old chicks, labour, overheads — are divided by total eggs produced to give a live cost-per-egg and cost-per-dozen figure. Updated continuously as costs are entered.
Sales by Customer Record customer deliveries by grade and quantity. See revenue per customer, delivered volume per grade and outstanding allocation against production — all linked to the production records from the same period.
Shell Quality Tracking Shell strength measurements and crack rate from grading sessions are logged by flock age and feed lot. Correlate shell quality trends with calcium supplementation, age at peak and temperature data.
Flock Comparison Compare lay rate curve, egg weight index and FCR across multiple flocks — current versus previous, barn A versus barn B, or same-breed cohorts from different seasons. Identify your most productive management conditions.
Automatic Period Reports Weekly and monthly production summaries are generated automatically — total eggs collected, lay rate average, grade distribution and cost-per-dozen. Sent by email without anyone preparing them manually.

Connected to the rest of your operation

Layer production data connects to egg packaging, traceability and business intelligence — so every egg that leaves the farm is tracked from production through to customer delivery.

Frequently asked questions

Livestocker supports automatic data import from SIME-TEK graders that produce standard output files (CSV or XML export). This includes the OVOLINE, AQUA and SELECTA series. If your grader model is not listed, send us a sample output file before your demo and we will confirm compatibility. Manual import via CSV is always available as a fallback.
Yes. Livestocker supports multi-age and multi-flock configurations within the same barn — each flock maintains its own lay rate curve, feed consumption record and egg collection data. Production from multiple flocks can be viewed individually or aggregated at barn, site or company level depending on your reporting needs.
Livestocker accumulates all flock costs — day-old chick purchase, feed (quantity × price), veterinary treatments, and configurable overhead allocations — and divides by total eggs collected. The cost-per-egg and cost-per-dozen figures update every time a new cost item or production entry is posted, giving you a continuously current view rather than a monthly estimate.
Standard lay rate curves for Lohmann Brown, Lohmann LSL, Hy-Line Brown, Hy-Line W-36, Novogen Brown and ISA Brown are included. Curves are editable — you can adjust peak lay rate, age at peak and decline slope to match your specific management conditions or supplier guidelines. Custom breed curves can be imported from a CSV template.
